Mobile Billing Overview | Carrier Rules | How It Works
Premium SMS billing enables certified operators such as GoLive! Mobile to charge cell phone owners directly on their mobile phone bill, typically in exchange for receiving some sort of mobile content or other service. The charge appears as a line item charge on the mobile phone invoice, and is assessed and collected directly by the wireless carrier (Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, etc). Typical “tariffs” that you can charge when doing one-time transactions with Premium SMS billing are $.99, $1.99 and $2.99. For monthly subscription billing services, the common tariffs are $4.99, and $9.99.
Clients receive from 50% - 55% of the retail rate charged to end-users. For example, if you are charging $.99 – you will receive around $.50 - $.55. The carriers typically make revenue outpayments approximately 60 – 90 days after the billing event. Carriers deduct any refunds and other “unbillables” from the total prior to paying, and these usually run in the 3 – 7% range.
GoLive! Mobile supports all U.S carriers with Premium SMS support (over 98% of mobile subscribers), as well as a broad range of international carriers. Please contact us for setup details in your country.
